Founded in 2014 by Dany Dos Santos and Maxime Schwab, two self-made designers from Dijon, Drôle de Monsieur creates awardrobe of unique and wearable pieces.
The brand imagines the reunion between the Seventies, known for its vibrant prints and iconic design, and the Nineties, referencing the designer’s personal memories from their youth, an era that was strongly influenced by the arrival of rap and hip-hop in France.
The Motto
Self-taught, founders Dany and Maxime developed the brand and their business from Dijon, France, quite an unusual place for fashion. From this stems the catch phrase “Not from Paris Madame”, to express that optimism, energy and attention will come back to you no matter where you’re from, no matter what. This motto is also to highlight that ambition, talent and love for craft is not only reserved to capital cities.
Today, this manifesto takes the form of a dedicated editorial project, in collaboration with artists and icons from all around the world who have build their skills and vision far away from the big city life.
